Bed is exposed to different stain materials like urine, blood, wine, etc. These materials when spilled over the bed, give stains. A considerable part of our life is spent over the bed. We sometimes have meals on our bed or infants urinate over the bed. All these circumstances lead to the stains over the sheets and mattress. Bed sheet can be easily washed and cleaned. The problem comes when material penetrates into the bed mattress. As you cannot wash out the mattress in washing machine, that’s the reason cleaning or spot removal is considered a laborious activity.

Source of stain:

As mentioned above, each stain is treated according to its nature so first and foremost is the identification of stains. What is the nature of the stain and where the stain came from?  Most of the time we are well aware of source of stain, but sometimes few UN-identified stains may lead to the serious problem. For example, you find small dots of blood on bed sheets and mattress but could not figure out the source, especially in seams, it might the indication of bed bug presence. Now you are supposed to remove the mattress from your home and call the exterminator.

Rapid Cleaning:

As soon as you will deal with the stain, easier will be its remover. Particularly in case of stain likes blood and urine. These stain set and dry quickly. So it is recommended to wash them as they are spilled on the mattress.

Removal of old stains:

In case, if you have noticed the stains quit late and now they have been dried, now what you can do is, apply hydrogen peroxide and wait for 10-15 minutes. This will soften the stain. Now you can wash it.

Removal of Blood stains:

·         Take few drops of hydrogen peroxide apply it to the mattress. Blot it while isis bubbling. This may not remove all stains but will help to lessen it. Afterward blot it with a clean white dry cloth.

Or

·         Rinse with the cold water and rub in meat tenderize from the pantry for protein removal. Rinse it; it will remove the iron found in blood.

Or

·         Take the baking soda. Mix one part of soda or two parts of cold water in large bowl and make a solution.  Apply it to the stained area using clean cloth and leave it for 30 minutes. Use a wet cloth to rinse the left over solution and then dry it by towel. You can use this method for cigarette and odor removal as well.

Removal of unidentified stains:

If you have unidentified stains then spray it with a citrus type cleaner and let it set for about five minutes. Afterwards, blot it as much of the cleaner out as you can use clean, white, absorbent cloth. A mild dish detergent can also be used for this purpose.

Enzyme cleaners:

This method is effective for the stains removal from mattress. These enzyme cleaners break down the structure of stains which helps in their removal of these stains. The enzyme cleaners are selected on basis of the stains you have on mattress. So it recommended looking at the directions given on the package of enzyme cleaners.
